so, the thing is…i like whiskey.
but i didn’t like it at all several years ago. remember the bitter beer face ads from ways back? yeah. picture that with me and a glass of the cheap stuff. bleh.
but that’s because i’d never experienced really good whiskey. or even medium good whiskey. even the bad stuff would have been better than my first, and what i thought to be my last, taste of whiskey.
but then i met this awesome guy who helped me see the error of my ways. so i married him. we like to drink whiskey together now. and take long walks on the beach…
so, the other day i received a message from this awesome new company, asking if they could send me a bottle to see what i thought.
life is cool that way.
and this whiskey is pretty damn delicious.
it is not a top shelf, by any means, nor does it pretend to be. from their website: “Alibi is not there to be fussed over, debated or used as a muse for a seminar. It is not about its age or aroma – heritage or flavor notes. Alibi is there to be a part of a great night with friends, a night that hopefully ends up with a great story and probably the need for, well, an Alibi.”
Alibi is an american blended whiskey, 90 proof [whew!] and best mixed… but i enjoyed it on the rocks, and got hints of molasses and vanilla. the rocks helped mellow it out a bit, which was nice as i am not big into mixers and syrupy sweet drinks, and i prefer a slow sip.
in all, this is some good stuff, and makes for a fun night indeed.
or day.
